Manny Pacquiao will meet Miguel Cotto on Nov. 14 at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas, Nevada. The two in the ring together is certain to produce fireworks. The bout - at a mutually agreed upon weight limit of 145 pounds - will be shown on HBO pay-per-view.
Miguel Cotto (34-1, 27 KOs) is the titleholder at 147 pounds while Pacquiao is the 140-pound junior welterweight champion. Though it was rumored that Pacquiao wanted the fight at 143 lbs, while Cotto refused, they ultimately agreed on a 145-pound maximum weight.
The two are the most popular boxers today shadowing even that of the Floyd Mayweather Jr. and/or Shane Mosley. Pacquiao, a title holder in six weight divisions, enjoys a hero/celebrity-like status in the Philippines. Cotto, on the other hand, is Puerto Rico’s most popular boxer today.
I am sure that this is the most anticipated fight of the year. After Cotto disposed of Clottey, and after Mayweather Jr vs Marquez announced their fight, we all know who Pacquiao’s next opponent is. Pacquiao vs Cotto, we’d all be watching that out.
